research at the Northeast Regional Honors Council (NRHC) Conference April 6-9, 2017 in Pittsburgh, PA.  They were accompanied by Dr. Patti Strobl (Biology).


Helen Cooney (Mathematics) and Prof. Ryan Savitz (Mathematics) presented their research at Mathfest, the annual meeting of the Mathematics Association of America, in Chicago on July 28.


Brittany Naimoli (Political Science) spent the spring 2017 semester in Harrisburg as a research analysis intern for the State Senate Republican Caucus.



Kelsey Sullivan is one of nine Nursing students who will travel to the Dominican Republic in October for a service-learning experience.

Twenty-two members of the honors program were named to the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) 2016-2017 All-Academic Team: Kasib Darden, Julia Howell, Nicole Mortimer, and Tim Nines (cross country); Madison Brown and Noelle Durham (field hockey); Megan Briggs and Danny Lewis (soccer); Kennae Gladney (tennis); Rachel Cray and Hayley Glah (volleyball); Haley Broomell, Robyn Hayden, Jackie Schneider, and Vickie Schneider (softball); Lydia Beckman and Brittany Cassidy (women’s lacrosse); Joe Mitchell (men’s golf); Grant Wallace and Curt Yenchik (baseball); Kasib Darden, Hayley Glah, Julia Howell, and Diamond Talley

(track & field); and Gab Cooney and Diamond Talley (women’s basketball).  Joe Mitchell and Jackie Schneider were also named to the ECAC West All-Academic teams for women’s and men’s ice hockey, respectively.

Jackie Schneider earned Division III NFCA All-American Softball honors.




Lisa Jean Riley (’14) was recently awarded a full tuition scholarship to Villanova University Law School.



Prof. James Kain (Freshman Honors: Rhetoric and Writing) traveled to Anaheim, CA in April to present “Becoming your own hero: Campbell’s Hero’s Journey as a model for successful students” at the 2017 On Course National Conference.

Prof. Geoffrey Karabin (Honors: Ethics) wrote the chapter “Living Existentialism: Essays in Honor of Thomas W. Busch” for Gregory Hoskins and J. C. Berendzen’s book Reflections on Gabriel Marcel’s Belief in the Afterlife (Pickwick Publications, 2017).


Sr. Diane Tomkinson, OSF (Freshman Honors: Theological Foundations) organized two sessions of papers for the 52nd International Congress on Medieval Studies in Kalamazoo, MI (May 10-12, 2017): Renewed in each sex: Women and men in the rediscovered life of St. Francis of Assisi; and Franciscan women and material culture.
