Neumann University to Host Faculty Follies Scholarship Benefit

Neumann University will host the annual Faculty Follies scholarship fundraiser on Saturday, September 26, at 7 p.m. in the Fred P. Meagher Theatre in the Thomas A. Bruder Jr. Life Center.

Faculty Follies is a performance event produced by the ArtsGroup, comprised of Neumann’s arts faculty, as an annual fund-raiser for the Stephanie Marek Performing Arts Scholarship. Marek was a long-time Neumann faculty member who died in 2000.

Faculty Follies is a kind of variety show that allows participants to play to their strengths and can include song, dance, skits, stand-up, poetry readings, etc. It is also a great opportunity to build community across divisional and departmental lines and to allow students to see faculty in a different light. Acts can be solo or group, funny or serious, conventional or outrageous.

Marek taught music and interdisciplinary courses at Neumann for 20 years. She served as associate director of the Theater Ensemble from its inception until her death in 2000. The Stephanie Marek Performing Arts Scholarship was established at her death with contributions from more than 60 people and is awarded annually to an upperclassman who has met the criteria for the scholarship.
