McIntyre Drive, the main roadway into the Neumann University campus, will be under construction from Friday, May 27, through Monday, June 20, for a complete re-paving project. Primary access to main campus during construction will be from Convent Road. McIntyre Drive has long been in need of major repair, and the new roadway should provide a safe and solid entrance to the University for many years to come.
The construction will be scheduled so that access to the Rocco A. Abessinio Building from Concord Road will remain available throughout the project. For most of the construction period, however, traffic between the Abessinio Building and the upper campus will be available only via Concord and Convent Roads. SEPTA information will be forthcoming.
Morgan Circle will remain open through May 31 but will also be closed to traffic on Wednesday, June 1, through June 20.
The project involves removal of the current curbing, excavating the roadway at least six inches deep, adding stone and a four-inch asphalt base, and resurfacing the entire roadway with 1.5-2 inches of paving.
Scheduling the work in late May and June will help the University steward its resources by avoiding anticipated price hikes in mid-summer.
