Rob Powelson, Chairman of the Pennsylvania Utilities Commission, and Colleen Morrone, the President and CEO of Goodwill of Delaware and Delaware County and a member of Delaware County Council, will join business executives Rip Tilden and Bob Schena for an upcoming program on Board Leadership for non-profit and private organizations. The program is open to the public and will be hosted by Neumann's Center for Community Leadership Development and Entrepreneurship on Thursday, September 27, 2012 from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Schmidt Multi-Purpose Room located in Living & Learning Center I.
“Participation in Board leadership training has a significant return on investment, because it is essential to a successful organizational future,” said Jonathan Peri, the Center’s director. “This program will provide specific focus on leadership roles and responsibilities associated with serving on the Board of Directors of an organization.
In addition to providing a great networking opportunity, the panel will share insights from personal experiences that will be valuable to individuals who are current and aspiring board members of civic, non-profits or business organizations.”
Topics to be discussed include the role of a Board member; Board responsibilities, accountabilities, ethical standards and behavior; the function of Board committees; Board development, recruiting and best practices; fundraising and fiduciary responsibilities; and Board and staff assessments. Participants will be exposed to both academic theory and practical, real life experiences.
Individuals who attend all five of the Center’s Fall programs will receive a Certificate of completion from Neumann University and students can receive one college credit. In addition, accountants and attorneys can earn three CLE and CPE credits for each program. Registration is $59 and can be completed online.
Four prominent lecturers will address the forum:
