Neumann University Director of Athletics and Recreation Chuck Sack has announced the hiring of Jim Rullo as the Assistant Athletic Director and Head Men’s Basketball Coach.
“We are excited to welcome Jim and his family to our Neumann University community. His prior experiences as college student-athlete and as a successful head coach make him a great fit for us institutionally.”
Rullo comes to Neumann from Malvern Preparatory School, where he was the head boys varsity basketball coach since April, 2006. During his tenure, Rullo had four seasons of 20+ wins and two consecutive Inter-Academic Championships while making Malvern Prep consistently ranked as one of the more successful programs in the area. Six players have gone onto play at a Division I schools.
Prior to Malvern Prep, Rullo spent a year as an assistant coach at his Alma Mater, Drexel University. He also spent two seasons at Hobart College.
Rullo played at Drexel for four seasons. He is the single season record holder in free throw percentage (.883) for the 1991-92 season. During the 1994 season, Rullo was the team captain on a Drexel team that went 25-5 and won the conference championship and participated in the NCAA East Regional.
“I am extremely excited about joining the Neumann community and family. I would like to thank Dr. Mirenda, Mr. Chuck Sack and the entire committee for selecting me. This is a wonderful opportunity for not only me but my entire family. I look forward to building on the success and tradition of the basketball program. I will take on this challenge with the same attitude, passion, and work ethic that has proven to be successful for me as a Division I player, college assistant coach and head high school coach. I look forward to meeting and working with the returning players. I also am very anxious to go out and recruit and expose the prospective student-athletes to what Neumann has to offer. It’s a special place that offers the academics, athletics, and resources second to none.”
Rullo earned his bachelor of science degree in business administration with a concentration in marketing from the Drexel University. Rullo currently resides in West Deptford, N.J. with his wife Maureen and two daughters Molly and Megan.
