In celebration of Earth Week, Dr. Mac Given, professor of biology at Neumann University, will tell the tale of a semester that he and his family spent in Costa Rica on Wednesday, April 23, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. His presentation, scheduled for Bachmann Main Building, Room 312, is free and open to the public.

Given’s family volunteered in the fall of 2013 with the Bosque Eterno de los Ninos, a nonprofit rainforest organization that owns more than 55,000 acres of tropical forest in the mountains of Costa Rica.

He will share his family’s experiences (including visits to two remote field stations), explain the natural history of the region, and provide details about how to visit one of the most exquisite ecotourism destinations in Central America. The work of his son, Gabriel, who applied his cartographical skills to create detailed trail maps of the region, will also be included in the presentation, as will photos, recordings and videos.
