Christopher D’Arcy, a partner with Gavel Resources in Washington, D.C., will share his insight and expertise about lobbying on Capitol Hill in a presentation on Tuesday, November 10, at 2:40 p.m. The lecture, scheduled for the Schmidt Multipurpose Room, is open to all members of the campus community.

A seasoned Capitol Hill veteran, D’Arcy has a deep understanding of the competing forces that shape public policy and the importance of effective communication in government affairs. With more than 20 years of experience in public policy, D’Arcy is an expert in the areas of trade, agriculture, food safety and marketing, bioterrorism, technology, finance, water, power, and resources issues.

D’Arcy previously served as staff director of the House Subcommittee on Livestock and Horticulture for Chairman Richard Pombo and was intimately involved in the formulation of both the 1996 and 2002 Farm Bills. Previously, D’Arcy has represented clients such as Oxfam America, Microsoft, the Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA), the California Dairy Institute, the United Arab Emirates, and the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California — the largest water agency in the world.

D’Arcy is a regular lecturer at the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania on the topic: “Effective Communication between Business and Government.”

The event is sponsored by Neumann’s Arts and Sciences and Business and Information Management Divisions.
