While the Neumann men’s and women’s ice hockey teams certainly have the most distant recruiting impact, reaching into faraway Canadian provinces, the roller hockey club is stretching its recruiting wings to regions of the United States where Neumann University is not a¬†household name.

Coach Lee Strofe reports that roller hockey recruits from New York and Missouri moved into the residence halls last week, drawn to Neumann because of the national powerhouse status of the travel club, which won the Division I national championship in 2015. That victory over Lindenwood University was the culmination of a dominant 34-1 season.

One great season does not establish a national reputation, however. Neumann has been grabbing attention in roller hockey circles for years. The club won Division II national titles in 2006 and 2008, and lost a close contest in the 2014 Division I title match.

Because of the roller hockey buzz, Matthew O’Shaughnessy from Long Island and Adam Goggio from St. Louis moved into residence halls on August 27.
