Pedrotty to Lecture on Caring for Victims
of Sexual Abuse

Colleen Pedrotty, MSHA, MSN, RN, CEN, SANE will present a program entitled Recognizing & Caring for Victims of Sexual Abuse* on Saturday, October 17. Pedrotty is currently a clinical education specialist for the Emergency Room, Pediatric, and Neuro ICU at St. Mary’s Medical Center. She has also been a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) at Aria Health System for the past 15 years. The 10 a.m. lecture in the Thomas A. Bruder, Jr. Life Center is free and open to the public and will include 2.5 CEU credits for RNs who attend.*

 

Pedrotty has attended the University of Pennsylvania SANE course for the care of both pediatric and adult victims. She is a graduate of St. Joseph University with a master’s degree in health administration and of Drexel University with a master’s degree in nursing. She conducted a research project on the triage of sexual assault victims while serving in a faculty role at LaSalle University.


Quite involved in developing and conducting the yearly SANE courses at Aria Health Systems and St. Mary’s Medical Center, Pedrotty is also a national faculty member for the Trauma Nurse Core course. Previously, she has taught a trauma course at the Sam Houston Army Base for nurses being deployed to the Middle East. Currently, she sits on the board of the Bucks County Network for Victims Assistance and is presently contributing to develop a centrally located county SANE unit.

 

Established in 2005 and sponsored by the Philadelphia General Hospital (PGH) Training School for Nurses Alumni Association, this endowed lecture series within Neumann University’s Division of Nursing and Health Sciences focuses on the nursing profession by presenting topical issues of interest to nursing alumni and the community.
