Phlebotomy Training Program
A trained phlebotomist is an important part of the health care team whose
primary responsibility is to obtain patient's blood specimens by venipuncture
and micro collection techniques and to facilitate collection and transportation
of other clinical laboratory specimens.
The Program
- 40 hours of classroom lecture, one night/week, 14 weeks
- 120 hours of clinical training, arranged with our Clinical Coordinator
at Crozer-Chester Medical Center
- Offered two times/year, beginning in September and February
- Upon successful completion of this program most graduates are eligible
to take a National Certification Examination.
- Phlebotomists work in hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, and smaller
health care settings.
- Fee: $500.00, required in full prior to the first night of the program,
plus the cost of text(s).
Eligibility
- Application form submitted along with a $40 application fee
- Proof of high school graduation or equivalent
- Written essay
- Proof of immunization and TB test results from health care provider
- Two letters of reference
- Proof of health insurance
- An interview, scheduled prior to the start of the program.
