Franciscan values and tradition strengthen professional education essential to the advanced practice nurse within contemporary society. Since the Neumann College Nursing Program is dedicated to the holistic care of the human family in the image of the Creator, the Neumann College student learns within a caring educational community where responsibility, respect for persons, and self-growth are emphasized.

Neumann College maintains the archives for the Neuman Systems Model developed by nursing theorist, Dr. Betty Neuman. This model provides an organizing structure for advanced practice, incorporating the physiological, psychological, socio-cultural, developmental, and spiritual variables which interrelate to create a unique person. Franciscan values reflect a central focus of care for clients within their environments and with consideration of the global community.

Advanced practice nurses demonstrate intellectual excellence by application of scientific knowledge and research from nursing and other disciplines. Clinical excellence is attained through diagnostic reasoning, nursing competencies, and evidence-based practice.

Nurses in advanced practice are professionals who are committed to the study and delivery of high quality, cost-effective health care. Graduates of Neumann College’s Master’s and Post-Master’s Nursing Programs are prepared to meet the challenges presented by the increasingly complex health care system of today’s society and to shape the future of health care.
