Frequently Asked Questions

How often is Commencement held?

Neumann College schedules one Graduation Commencement Ceremony which is held each May. However, there are three graduation dates during the academic year [August, December, and May]. Back To Top

When do I receive my diploma?

Students who have successfully completed their degree requirements by the conclusion of either Summer Session II [August] or at the conclusion of the Fall Semester [December] may receive their diploma after they have been certified for graduation by the Registrar. August and December graduates who have already received their diplomas, but who wish to participate in the May Commencement ceremony are encouraged to do so . . . but . . . must notify the Registrar's Office by March 3, 2008.

All May candidates for graduation are expected to attend the College's May Commencement ceremony and will receive their diplomas that day. Back To Top

How is the Valedictorian selected?

The Valedictorian is a graduating senior whose entire academic program has been completed at Neumann College on a full-time basis, and whose cumulative Grade Point Average is the highest in his/her class. The student’s involvement in leadership activities at the College and his/her community service are also considered in the selection process.

With regard to these eligibility criteria, students who have earned credits through either standardized examinations or through the College-sponsored evaluations listed below and who have, otherwise, completed all academic coursework at Neumann College are still eligible for Valedictorian consideration.

  • CLEP
  • AP (Advanced Placement as administered through ETS)
  • ACT
  • DANTES
  • ACE Recommended Credits
  • Challenge Examinations
  • Experiential Learning Portfolio Assessment

Participate in the Class Campaign of 2008

As a tradition at Neumann College, this program is designed to give graduating students the opportunity to help make a difference and say "thank you" to Neumann College.

What does the Class Campaign support?

Take a look around . . . faculty resources and equipment in the Budike Lab, library,
or computer labs

Take a look around . . . resources and services to assist our students in the John C. Ford Academic Resource Center

Take a look around . . . technology in the classroom ~ make them smart and keep them smart

Take a look around . . . student development, Freshman Experience and student
leadership activities

Take a look around . . . students and more students experiencing a Neumann education,
a Catholic Education in the Franciscan Tradition

When it comes right down to it, annual support from alumni makes up the difference between revenue from tuition to keep the College running each and every day. Educational costs continually rise each year, but our alumni and friends help make those increases manageable you, the students!

Remember, you are benefiting NOW due to the generosity of those who attended Neumann before you.

Here's how it works:

  • Make a pledge of $200 over five years (or make a one-time gift this year at any level) and your first payment of $20.00 is due by June 30

  • Your Campaign Commitee will present the contribution to President Mirenda at Commencement Rehearsal

  • A special page in the Commencement program will be dedicated to the Class Campaign of 2008 and your name will be listed as a participant

  • At your five-year reunion, the Class of 2008 will be honored by naming a project on campus chosen by your Campaign Committee
