Sometimes one has a passion that never goes away and, sooner or later, needs to be satisfied. Meredith Becker found this out first hand when she changed careers, leaving the corporate world for the kindergarten classroom – a place she knew that she always wanted to be.
She enrolled in Neumann’s masters in educational leadership program while she was working full time at her job. It was a path that would lead her to her goal.
“I was working in land-title insurance. It was an extremely limiting office job. I always had the desire to teach and, after working for a few years in the business world, I decided it was time to cut ties and get back to what I wanted to do and make a difference in the world,” she says.
Meredith has finished the master’s program and now teaches kindergarten students in a special education learning support classroom in the Garnet Valley School District. “I selected the M.S. of Education in order to acquire my teaching certificate. My selection of this major was the pivotal choice in deciding to change careers into the education field.”
“That fact that I actually make a difference in the lives of young learners and getting the chance to bear witness to the moment when a student discovers or learns something new is an amazing experience,” she says.
Neumann’s program appealed to Meredith because of its flexibility in scheduling and the way the program caters to working individuals. She feels one of the strengths of the College is small class sizes and class availability.
“Neumann College is an ideal school for working individuals. The course availability allows for flexibility in scheduling, which is great for anyone who’s looking for a quality master’s program,” she notes.
The Neumann professors are another reason that Meredith would recommend the educational leadership program. She says they make the program work and engage their students into the learning process. “There are so many great professors at Neumann. The teachers at Neumann are really what make the difference. The guidance that each teacher gives to their students is amazing. They each truly made the experience a wonderful time for me.”
