Making a choice for college is not always easy. In fact, for sophomore
Joe Coffey, his first choice was not the right choice. Having attended
Wingate University in Charlotte, North Carolina, on a golf scholarship
for one semester, Joe had difficulty feeling at home. He enjoyed the
environment of the campus, but the fit wasn't quite what he had hoped
for. Joe's two friends had come to Neumann and enthusiastically recommended
he consider transferring. He did, and his experience so far has been
"absolutely great."
"I've met so many new people. I have a new family on the golf
team, and I know I have made lifetime friends and will always stay
in touch," he says. Neumann made sense for Joe for many reasons.
Aspiring to teach elementary school in Pennsylvania, the College
makes it easy by helping him attain PA certification as part of
the program. "I also can still play golf here and I'm not too
far from home."
Neumann's small campus and class size is another plus for Joe.
"I wanted a small class size where I can get more one-on-one
time. I feel I learn better in a smaller class. My grades have
been great." Another reason Joe says his Neumann College
experience has been so good is the "friendly and supportive
faculty. They treat you with respect and make themselves available
to you after classes. They provide career direction and are so
willing to go over anything you don't understand. I feel I've
learned so many things already that will help when I have my own
classroom."
In fact, Joe thinks he may even pursue his Ph.D. in education
hoping someday to teach at the college level. "I know I've
made the right choice now," he says.
