Neumann College has given Alex Ford a meaningful homecoming experience.
Not in the traditional college sense, since Alex has not yet graduated
from the College, but in a spiritual one. Alex has come home to his
Catholic faith at Neumann.
A Catholic elementary school graduate, Alex attended public high
school. When it came to choosing a college, however, he felt a need
to find one that would help him get back to his faith. "For
a while, I didn't attend church. I didn't know what I wanted or
what I was searching for." When a Neumann College representative
visited his high school, he saw something that clicked for him.
He liked the small class sizes and community atmosphere, but most
importantly he liked the opportunities he saw to reconnect with
his faith through the College's Franciscan mission and traditions.
"I missed the religious aspect of my life and the spiritual
component.
In addition to being able to nurture his spiritual being, Alex
is looking to develop his business acumen. A business administration
major, he sees himself as a future entrepreneur. "I want
to own my own real estate firm some day." Having taken business
classes in high school and having previously completed a marketing
research internship with a local real estate firm, he believes
he knows a little about the how to run a business and thinks working
in the real estate field suits him well. "My courses at Neumann
are giving me a solid picture of the business world, and will
prepare me well for the future," he says.
"So many of my friends back home tell me their schools do
nothing for them. It's definitely not that way at Neumann,"
he says. "There's so much at Neumann for students, so many
different activities, sporting events, games, etc." Alex
is also impressed with how much thought and care the College has
given to students needs. He says even the dorm set ups have been
planned so that students have their own bathrooms, and each building
has a computer lab and study lounge. Another quality that Alex
sincerely appreciates is "teachers here really care. They
know you by name. It's really great that students are close on
a personal level with faculty. You don't see that at every college."
Making the decision to come to Neumann was "absolutely the
right one for me."
