"Neumann College has helped me realize that I could do what I really want with my life. I can realize my dream," says Ashley Travis, a junior communication and media arts major, who aspires to a career in Hollywood in film directing or production. She credits the faculty and students in Neumann's theater program with helping her evaluate her talents and reflect on her career aspirations. This personalized direction coupled with the "hands-on" experience she is getting, she believes will prepare her well for her career.

Having visited Neumann as a high school student, Ashley was impressed with the friendliness and enthusiasm of a Neumann College recruiter who talked about how helpful and supportive the teachers and staff were. "This has definitely proven to be true. The faculty always makes me feel that if I ever need help, whatever it might be, I will get it." She singles out Dr. Yuki Ishida, her voice teacher, for ongoing support and encouragement. "She continually tells me how much I'm growing and developing."

Ashley feels Neumann's smallness and "tight-knit sense of community," help her feel relaxed and foster a caring environment. "I like the dorms, and people are genuine in their care and concern for me." An active student, she is involved with the Black Student Union, the Gospel Choir, the Dance Team, and Theater Ensemble. She says her Neumann experience has been "fantastic." She thoroughly enjoys the people and the strong communications curriculum. "I feel I have accomplished so much here. I was able to start a dance team and really get it off the ground with the College's support. Neumann has allowed me to expand myself and develop fully as a person. Being involved with activities has helped me discover and showcase my talents."
