Senior communications major Frank Bruno has grabbed  the brass ring and more during his years at Neumann College. There are only a few college activities that occur without him at the helm or on the sidelines, being one of the college’s greatest supporters, not to mention official 2007-08 homecoming king.

When choosing a college, Frank wanted to stay close to home and had looked at state universities in addition to Neumann. He was sold on Neumann because of its warm and welcoming spirit.

“I chose Neumann because of the hospitality. The admissions department was great. They really wanted to help you.  What sold me here was the genuine care for the actual student and how they wanted to see you succeed,” he says.

Frank has embraced Neumann’s Franciscan values and incorporated the teachings into his own daily living.  “I grew up in the public school system. When I first came here I didn’t know the Franciscan traditions, but it is about who I am.  Each teaching fits close to home and my personality.  I know the teachings of St. Francis have helped me grow into a better person,” he notes.

Being a communications and media arts major was a natural fit for Frank.  He spends many hours acting and public speaking and he also works part-time job as a disc jockey for an entertainment company. He appreciates the wide variety of subjects that are included in his field of study.

“I like that you’re not forced to focus on one area of study. This allows you to enhance your skills and gives you more experience. I feel very knowledgeable in anything ranging from video production to journalism to web page design.  What’s nice about this major is we have professors who are editors in journalism and have hands-on experience and can give us insight into the industry,” he says.

Future career plans for Frank include large-scale event planning and development where he can combine his knowledge and people skills while maintaining his “do all you can” attitude.
