MISSION:

The Neuman Systems Model Trustees Group, Inc. is a non-profit organization founded by Betty Neuman, Ph. D., FAAN. Comprised of nurse researchers, educators, practitioners and administrators, the group is dedicated to the ongoing process of supporting and promoting the Neuman Systems Model.

Through a commitment to the future of the model, the group assures its integrity, development and relevance to the continual enhancement of the body of nursing knowledge.

PURPOSES:

  1. Engage in the continuing development and evaluation of the Neuman Systems Model.

  2. Increase the understanding of the Neuman Systems Model within the nursing profession and the health care community.

  3. Conduct professional forums in which the professional community can be kept updated and appraised of the work related to the Neuman Systems Model.

  4. Maintain a bibliographic account of publications and/or research based on or using the Neuman Systems Model.

  5. Respond to the printed and spoken criticisms through intelligent and scholarly analysis of the work (s).

  6. Serve as consultants, advisors and facilitators toward the ongoing development and use of the Neuman Systems Model.

  7. Support through scholarly and creative arts the continued work and efforts of Betty Neuman, Ph.D. FAAN, author and theorist.

MEMBERSHIP: As a group, the Trustees of the Neuman Systems Model, Incorporated represents a global perspective (geographically and culturally). Through the membership nursing and interdisciplinary perspectives are portrayed. The academic credentials of embers are at the graduate level (master's and doctoral degrees).

Criteria for Membership:

  • Expert knowledge of the Neuman Systems Model

  • Use of the Neuman systems Model in professional activities (i.e. research, education, practice, consultation, administration, etc.)

  • Able to respond to requests in a timely manner

  • Works well in groups (team player)

  • Willing to give "extra time" to the trustee activities.
