WITH THE EXCEPTION of the Fashion Show and Luncheon, seminars are held at 1:30 p.m. in the Fred P. Meagher Theatre in the Thomas A. Bruder, Jr. Life Center. Admission is $7.00 per person, per seminar (FREE for Cultural Arts Forum members-complete and return the enclosed form with the $30 membership fee). Joanna Mell: Celtic Harpist and Storyteller
March 13, 2008 1:30 p.m.
Joanna Mell will play and sing Celtic music and demonstrate her gift of storytelling. Drawing from both her knowledge of Celtic lore and her imagination, she will perform Irish, Scottish, Welsh and Breton pieces and share some of her many stories. A 25-year veteran performer in the east coast metropolitan area, Mell has won numerous first place awards for singing in English and Gaelic, and was one of the finalists in the Sean Nos category of singing in the All-Ireland Championships in 1985.

Bill Burke, Jr.: Mummery at its finest!

Bill Burke, who has been marching in the Mummer’s Parade for 48 years, will share his passion and expertise on the Art of Mummery! Using costumes and memorabilia, he will share some of the rich history of the parade and explain how it has become a trademark in the Philadelphia entertainment industry. A member of the Fancy Brigade Hall of Fame, Burke was captain of the Golden Crown Fancy organization and is currently vice president of the Philadelphia Fancy Brigade Association.
