Basilica Brass to Play Holiday
Classics
The Basilica
Brass will perform a selection of holiday and pop classics on the Neumann College
campus on Thursday, December 8, at 1:30 p.m. The concert will take place in the
Fred P. Meagher Theatre, located in the Life Center.
Basilica Brass is a
traditional brass quintet that performs a large and varied repertoire of secular
and non-secular music, in styles ranging from classical to jazz-including some
of their own arrangements. The quintet, formed in 1976, was originally associated
with the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul in Philadelphia and performed
in Rome for the canonization of St. John Neumann.
The group's appearance
at Neumann is part of a seminar series sponsored by the Cultural Arts Forum, one
of seven groups that make up the Arts Guild at Neumann College. Other groups include
Center Stage Productions, the Neumann College Concert Chorale, the Neumann College
Jazz Band, the Neumann College Theater Ensemble, the Delaware County Symphony,
and Stages of Imagination Children's Theater.
Admission to the concert is
$7. Members of the Cultural Arts Forum are admitted free of charge. For more information
and to reserve tickets, call (610) 558-5626.
