A Degree of Gratitude on Graduation Day

 

On May 13, the College presented a record number of degrees to the Class of 2006 - a total of 626. There were 190 master's degrees, 413 bachelor's degrees and 23 associate degrees. Lawrence S. Cunningham, Ph.D., a prolific author and acting chair of Theological Studies at the University of Notre Dame, delivered a commencement address that stressed the importance of gratitude.

"The secret to a human fulfilling life of any deep spiritual significance is to be a grateful person," he told the graduates. "The best expression of gratitude you can show for your education is to use it for the good of others by reflecting an ethically competent and morally persuasive life that reflects your training here at Neumann."

Lawrence S. Cunningham, Ph.D., acting chair of Theological Studies at the University of Notre Dame, delivered a commencement address on the importance of gratitude.

Smiles were the order of the day, generated by the sense of accomplishment and gratitude that
the rain held off until commencement had ended.
