One-Man Drama on St. Francis Comes to Neumann

The son of a wealthy Italian merchant, St. Francis of Assisi spent his youth in frivolous extravagance. Then he experienced a dramatic conversion and cheerfully gave up all his worldly possessions to live a radical life of service and prayer.

Leonardo Defilippis, director and star of the recently released motion picture, Therese, will bring his one-man production, Saint Francis: Troubadour of God's Peace, to Neumann on Thursday, October 27. He will perform the one-hour show at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in the College Life Center.

Defilippis boasts 25 years of experience as an actor, producer and director of religious theatrical productions, videos and films. In 1980, after spending six years performing with the Colorado Shakespeare Festival, San Diego's Old Globe Theater and the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, he launched his own production company, Saint Luke Productions. He has won numerous national and international awards for his work, which includes John of the Cross, The Gospels of Luke and John, The Confessions of Saint Augustine, and Therese: The Story of a Soul. In addition to playing a role in Therese, Defilippis also made his film directorial debut with the recent movie.

Saint Francis: Troubadour of God's Peace is a dramatic portrayal of a popular Christian hero. The production runs approximately one hour and is suitable for all ages. Admission is a free-will offering. Calling 610-558-5626 to reserve seats in advance is strongly recommended.
