Neumann will exhibit the artwork of Carrie Ida Edinger from October 29, 2005, through January 7, 2006, in the campus library. The exhibit, which is free of charge, is located in Bachmann Main Building on the Aston campus.
Carrie Ida Edinger is the recipient of the 2003 Emerging Artist Fellowship in Delaware for works on paper/printmaking. Edinger received her BFA from University of Delaware with a concentration in printmaking and fibers. Her artwork ranges from abstract screen prints on cloth and acetate with hand stitching to installation pieces. Edinger teaches printmaking workshops locally along with teaching at Darlington Arts Center located in Boothwyn, PA.
"I use emotions to create my art,"
says Edinger. "Call it sensitivity or observation; I like to be aware of
how emotions and situations revolve around one another. Remembering the strongest
part of the situations, I document them with a printmaking process.
I explore
my observations and personal feelings through unique printmaking techniques.
Just like emotions that can change through the day with situations that occur in life, the process of my work has changed. By printing on different materials, hand stitching, and using varied presentations, my many layers of abstracted shapes bring to life my experiences and notions on fabric. These shapes and colors express a portion from a personal experience or emotions that I have know or perceived." |
