In Delaware County, Folklore is Everything
J.
Joseph Edgette, a folklore expert and professor of education at Widener University,
will present a lecture entitled Folklore Is Everything on Thursday, October
13, at 1:30 p.m. The illustrated presentation is scheduled for the Meagher Theatre
in the campus Life Center.
Dr. Edgette has an international reputation in
the fields of folklore and material culture. He was named among the top 2,000
scholars of the twentieth century by the International Biographical Centre of
Cambridge, England. His presentation will reveal some familiar aspects of Delaware
County's history, traditions and customs as reflected by the county's folklore.
The
lecture is sponsored by the Cultural Arts Forum, one of seven groups that comprise
the Arts Guild at Neumann College. Other organizations are Center Stage Productions,
the Delaware County Symphony, the Neumann College Community Chorus, the Neumann
College Jazz Band, the Neumann College Theater Ensemble, and Stages of Imagination
Children's Theater.
General admission is $7. The lecture is free for Forum
