Graduate Enrollment Hits 500
Graduate enrollment at Neumann has hit the 500 mark for the first
time in the history of the College. The numbers have skyrocketed
in the last five years, jumping from a total enrollment of 212 in
the spring of 2001 to 508 in the spring of 2006, an increase of
140%.
Each of the six graduate programs has grown during the past five
years, and two of the programs - the master's degrees in education
and strategic leadership - have been the significant sources of
growth. The M.S. in education has been booming, jumping from 87
students in spring 2001 to 202 in the current semester, thanks to
off-campus classes that are now offered at seven locations in five
counties and certification that is now an option at the graduate
level. The M.S. in strategic leadership, which did not exist in
2001, has added 73 students to the graduate enrollment total.
Other Neumann graduate programs have experienced steady growth
as well - from the weekend doctorate in physical therapy and the
accelerated master's degree in sport management, to the M.S. programs
in pastoral counseling and nursing.
The master's degree in education, which boasts 40% of the College's
total graduate numbers, can be completed in two years of part-time
study and includes an option for certification in special education.
Classes are now forming for St. Agnes Elementary School in West
Chester, Kennedy-Kenrick High School in Norristown, and a Bucks
County location yet to be announced. The degree can also be earned
in 15 months of full-time study at Neumann's main campus in Aston,
Delaware County.
