Neumann Launches Intelligence Analysis Program for Adults
Ever since 9/11, the intelligence analysis industry has been booming.
According to Ron Chance, a professor of political science and criminal justice
at Neumann, there are currently hundreds of job openings for intelligence analysts
with national, state and local law enforcement agencies.
In September, the
College will launch an Intelligence Studies certificate program for adults. The
first part of this four-course program focuses on intelligence analysis. The course
runs on 13 Tuesdays, 6-9 p.m., from September 13 to December 6.
The certificate
program prepares students for jobs in the intelligence analysis field. Chance,
the instructor, is a former National Intelligence Coordinator for the U.S. Department
of Labor. He also served as an intelligence analyst with the New Jersey State
Police.
Students in the course will use state-of-the-art technology, learning
Analyst Notebook 6, an electronic analysis tool used by law enforcement and national
security analysts.
According to Chance, "The 9/11 attacks inspired
many people to join the military or law enforcement agencies. For others, who
want to contribute without carrying a weapon or fighting in a war zone, intelligence
analysis is the perfect fit. This certificate program provides an opportunity
for those who already have a college degree to enter a career field in which they
can earn a good salary, help the national security effort, and fight terrorism
by using their brains, not their brawn."
