Abstract Art and Collages
Neumann
will exhibit the abstract artwork and collages of Christa Krumbhaar from February
25 through April 29 in the campus library. The exhibit, which is free of charge,
is located in Bachmann Main Building. An artist's reception is scheduled for Monday,
February 27, from 6-8 p.m. in the College library.
A graduate of the Hussian
School of Art in Philadelphia, Krumbhaar exhibits throughout the Delaware Valley
in juried, invitational and solo shows. Voted one of the "Hottest Artists
of 2005" in Chester County, she has won awards from the Community Arts Center
in Wallingford and the Chester County Art Association.
She creates her paintings
with layers of acrylic washes in predetermined shapes and uses multiple overlays
to build visual texture and patterns. With her collages, she employs portions
of her painted canvases and adds her handmade clay trinkets and other found objects
to form three-dimensional statements.
Describing her multiple layering method,
Krumbhaar says, "Fields of color evolve with each new layer. The images that
appear constantly change and grow. The painting comes alive with the play upon
its surface."
The exhibit, sponsored by the Arts Guild at Neumann College,
is open to the public during library hours. The library is open Monday-Thursday
from 7:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday from 10 a.m.
to 5 p.m.; and Sunday from 1-9 p.m.
