Janet and Joseph Massey Endow Scholarship

Janet and Joseph Massey, faculty members at Neumann, have established the Janet Massey Breast Cancer Survivor Scholarship in honor of Janet, a breast cancer survivor.

"When I was diagnosed with breast cancer, I was devastated," admits Janet. "I went on the internet, searching for information, and it was a nightmare. The sites I found had me dead in three weeks. Finally my husband actually removed the computer from our home. After my recovery, I wanted to find a way to get information to women when they were newly diagnosed so that they would not be in the dark as I was. As a result, I founded the pink ladies.

"Neumann College and pink ladies became one to me, both very important and well worth anything that I could possibly do with my limited resources. Therefore, I established the scholarship to give something to Neumann College … and to find a means to enlighten people about breast cancer."

Janet Massey is an assistant professor of accounting in the Division of Business and Information Management at Neumann. She is a CPA and holds B.S. and MBA degrees from St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia. Joseph Massey is an adjunct professor in the business division.

The scholarship is earmarked for any person, male or female, with a family member who has been diagnosed with breast cancer. As with many endowed scholarships, the award will renew every year during matriculation at Neumann, as long as the student remains in good academic standing.

The Janet Massey Breast Cancer Survivor Scholarship has not yet been awarded. For additional information about the scholarship and how to apply for it, contact the Financial Aid office at 610-558-5521.
