American Piano Music . . With Stories
Charles H. Pettaway, Jr. will perform a selection of American piano
music on Thursday, April 20, at 1:30 p.m. in the Meagher Theatre.
An internationally recognized concert pianist, Pettaway peppers
his performances with humorous stories about the history of each
song and the artists who made them popular.
A native Philadelphian and member of the Lincoln University faculty,
he has performed throughout the United States, Europe, Israel, and
Russia. He has studied at the Philadelphia Musical Academy, Temple
University and Tanglewood Music Center as well as in France at Fontainbleau
and the Ravel Academie. Pettaway has taught master classes at universities
in Kentucky, Louisiana, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and
Virginia.
The program is sponsored by the Cultural Arts Forum, one of seven
groups that comprise the Arts Guild at Neumann College. Other organizations
are Center Stage Productions, the Delaware County Symphony, the
Neumann College Concert Chorale, the Neumann College Jazz Band,
the Neumann College Theater Ensemble, and Stages of Imagination
Children's Theater.
