The
piano duo of Maria José Martin and Christopher Bradshaw will present an
evening of classical music by Russian masters on Friday, February 24, at 8 p.m.
The concert is scheduled for the Meagher Theatre on campus.
Entitled Russian
Nights, the concert includes excerpts from Stravinsky's Rite of Spring,
Rimsky-Korsakov's Rhapsody Espagnole, and Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker.
Martin, a member of the Neumann College faculty, is a performer with
international experience. She has played in Spain, Germany, Austria, Thailand,
and the United States, including performances at Steinway Hall in New York City
and the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia. Martin has also premiered the work of Spanish
women composers in national broadcasts from Madrid. A native of Spain, she earned
her master's degree and doctorate in piano performance from the University of
Cincinnati's College Conservatory of Music.
A native of Monticello, New
York, Bradshaw graduated with distinction from the University of North Carolina
at Chapel Hill before attending the University of Cincinnati. He has performed
at chamber music festivals in Cincinnati, Ohio, and in Morges, Switzerland. He
teaches piano at the Sanford School and the Darlington Arts Center. He and Martin
have been performing as a piano duo since 1992, when they met at the College Conservatory
of Music.
General admission is $8. The cost for seniors and students is
