Theater Ensemble Presents Cabaret
The College Theater Ensemble will stage Cabaret, the hit musical from the 1960s, on March 15-18 in the Meagher Theatre.
This “musical with an edge” is perhaps best known because of the 1972 Academy Award-winning film version of the play that stars Liza Minnelli and Joel Grey. The stage production also enjoyed a successful revival on Broadway in the late 1990s.
Set in 1930s Germany as the Nazis were beginning their rise to power, Cabaret puts us in a world where people turn to sordid entertainment to distract themselves from the growing poverty, hatred and violence around them. Musical numbers include the famous title song as well as Wilkommen, Don’t Tell Mama, and Tomorrow Belongs to Me.
Performances of Cabaret are scheduled for 8 p.m. on March 15-17 and for 2 p.m. on March 18. Tickets are $10 each, with a $5 admission price for students (of any age) and seniors. To reserve seats, call 610-361-5455.
