Guarding the Environment From Tee to Green

The College will host a panel discussion on Golf Courses, Poisons and Values on Thursday, November 16, at 3:30 p.m. in room 60 of Bachmann Main Building. Professor Randall Detra and members of the New Castle County, Delaware, Civic League will participate in the panel.

Detra is working with the Civic League in its efforts to address environmental issues that have surfaced concerning industrial golf courses, or "industrial country clubs," in the state of Delaware.

After earning a Ph.D. from Ohio State University's department of entomology, specializing in insecticide toxicology, Detra spent five years at the University's Veterinary Hospital, participating in drug metabolism and disposition research on performance horses. Before entering higher education, Detra worked in industry for 15 years doing research on pesticide registration, environmental analysis and laboratory management.

Sponsors of the event are Neumann's Care of Creation Committee and Students for Environmental Awareness club. For more information, contact John Mizzoni at 610-361-5496 or mizzonij@neumann.edu.
