Concert Chorale to Welcome Spring with Song

Under the direction of Dr. Yukiko Ishida, the College Concert Chorale will perform seasonal selections, including Amazing Grace, Danny Boy and Shenandoah, at its annual spring concert. The group will perform on Wednesday, April 25, at 8 p.m. in the Life Center.

The Chorale will be joined by guest artists Mary-Ellen Bennett Harris on flute and Robert Nester on piano. Irish dancers Erin, Moira and Clare Reilly will also perform during the program to songs from Lord of the Dance.

Other pieces in the program are selections from Mozart’s Requiem, Wagner’s Tannhauser and Verdi’s La Traviata, as well as Schubert’s Kyrie.

Harris graduated from Wheaton College and attended Westminster Choir College and St. Joseph's College.  In 2005, she performed Carmina Burana with Ishida and David Lofton.  Currently she is the organist at Union Methodist Church in Havertown.

Nester has been an accompanist and assistant conductor for the Chorale since 1997. He also has been an organist and music director at Clifton United Methodist Church in Clifton Heights for more than 20 years. He has arranged both sacred and contemporary Christian music and has performed throughout the region as a piano accompanist.

The Reilly Girls have been dancing since 1997. Erin, Moira and Clare range in age from 9 to 17, and they have won regional titles, top ten placements at nationals, and placements in the top third at the world championships. The girls study dancing with Christina Ryan-Kilcoyne at the Ryan School of Irish Dancing.

Ishida, a faculty member at Neumann, is a renowned international vocalist who has won the Mario Lanza Competition, the Combs College Centennial Award, and the Liberace Competition. She has appeared as a soloist with orchestras in America, Asia and Europe. She directs the College Concert Chorale, which performs an annual holiday concert of traditional songs and a spring concert of seasonal music.

The Chorus is one of eight groups that comprise the Arts Guild at the College. Together, these groups draw almost 15,000 people to campus each year.

General admission is $8, with students and senior citizens paying $5 each. For more ticket information, call 610-558-5626.
