The piano duo of Maria Jose Martin and Christopher Bradshaw will present an evening of exotic and rhythmic classical music on Friday, February 23, at 8 p.m. The concert is scheduled for the Life Center.
Entitled Piano Duo: Fire Dance, the concert includes works by Spanish composers Manuel de Falla and Donostia as well as compositions by Gershwin, Gottschalk and Amy Beach.
Martin, a member of the Neumann College faculty, is a performer with international experience. She has played in Spain, Germany, Austria, Thailand, and the United States, including performances at Steinway Hall in New York City and the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia. Martin has also premiered the work of Spanish women composers in national broadcasts from Madrid. A native of Spain, she earned her master’s degree and doctorate in piano performance from the University of Cincinnati’s College Conservatory of Music.
A native of Monticello, New York, Bradshaw graduated with distinction from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill before attending the University of Cincinnati. He has performed at chamber music festivals in Cincinnati, Ohio, and in Morges, Switzerland. He teaches piano at the Sanford School and the Darlington Arts Center. He and Martin have been performing as a piano duo since 1992, when they met at the College Conservatory of Music.
