Neumann College is hosting its fourth annual Leadership Institute on Thursday, May 31, and Friday, June 1. The theme of the conference is workforce development, with the focus on maintaining a competitive edge and a competent workforce.

Designed to help for-profit companies, non-profit organizations and government agencies, the Institute features speakers from Comcast Corporation, Genesis HealthCare Corporation, State Farm Insurance, the City of Philadelphia and DuPont Corporation.

James B. Porter, chief engineer and vice president for engineering and operations with DuPont Corporation, will deliver the keynote address entitled “Leading Ourselves and Others” on May 31 at 3:30 p.m. A reception and dinner will follow before the presentation of a case study on the same topic by Paula Patrick-Johnakin, judge of the Court of Common Pleas, Philadelphia County.

Friday’s keynote speaker is A.T. Locilento, Jr., senior vice president for human development at Genesis HealthCare Corporation. He will speak on “Building a World-Class Resource Organization.” Surrounding his presentation will be workshops and panel discussions on topics such as customer service strategies, connective leadership, workforce recruitment and retention, and succession strategies. The June 1 program runs from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Other panelists on June 1 include Melanie Penna, vice president for human resources, Comcast Cable Communications; Nancy Myshko, senior vice president, Delaware Park;
Laura McGinty, vice president of professional development, Genesis HealthCare Corporation; Chris Starr, vice president, Science Center; Dionne Wallace, human resource manager, State Farm Insurance; and Seth Williams, inspector general, City of Philadelphia.

“Maintaining your competitive edge and a skilled, competent workforce – one with a positive attitude, effective communication skills and sound decision-making abilities – can mean the difference between success and failure,” explains Dr. Judith Stang, director of the Leadership Institute and the master’s degree program in strategic leadership at Neumann College.

The fee for the Institute is $395 per person. The cost includes dinner on Thursday evening, overnight accommodations (if desired) and breakfast and lunch on Friday. Organizations with five or more people receive a 20% of just $316 per person, and there is a student and alumni rate of $295/per person. To register or obtain more information, call 610-558-5629.
