A faculty member and guest artist will collaborate to present
A Night at the Opera in the Meagher Theatre on Friday,
April 6. Pianist David Lofton and coloratura soprano Yukiko Ishida will perform selections from:
Marriage of Figaro by Mozart
Lakme by Delibes
Russalka by Dvorak
Hansel & Gretel by Humperdinck
Ishida is a renowned international vocalist who has won the Mario Lanza Competition, the Combs College Centennial Award, and the Liberace Competition. She performs for various
charitable causes, including families of 9/11 victims, the Kobe Earthquake Victims Fund, and Ukrainian Disaster Relief. She has appeared as a soloist with the Czech National Orchestra in Prague, Czech Republic; the St. Giles Orchestra in Oxford, England; the Chitose Symphony Orchestra and the Sapporo Symphony Orchestra in Japan; the National Philharmonic in Washington, D.C.; and the Delaware County Symphony in Aston. She is scheduled to perform in Ireland, England, and Japan in 2007.
Dr. Ishida’s two compact discs are “American Jewels” and “World Music Standard Collection” with the Sapporo Symphony Orchestra. She is a faculty member at Neumann College, where she directs the College Concert Chorale.
Pianist David Lofton will accompany Ishida in the concert. He has performed with the Luciano Pavarotti International Voice Competition, the Spoleto Festival in Italy, and the Harlem Boys Choir at Carnegie Hall. He is a member of the Academy of Vocal Arts music faculty.
General admission to the program is $8. Tickets for students and senior citizens are $5. Neumann students are admitted free of charge. To reserve tickets or for more information, call 610-558-5626.
