Election 2006: Chat and Chew
The second installment of Pizza & Politics will be held on Thursday,
November 2, in the Schmidt Multipurpose Room from 6-9 p.m. According
to Political Science Professor Rob McMonagle, Pizza and Politics
is a non-partisan event organized by and primarily for students,
facilitating their discussion of public policy issues and key races
in the upcoming election. The event (and the pizza) is free
and open to the public.
The event is part of students' service-learning component of McMonagles
State and Local Government class. Pizza and Politics promises to
be a combination of voter education and political discussion, with
the emphasis on participating in the democratic process. Class members
registered an estimated 200 students to vote in the November 9 election
and hope to have a good turnout for the educational component of
the project.
Community members are urged to participate. The students welcome
a variety of voices and opinions. The Schmidt Room is in Living
and Learning Center I, on the north side of Convent Road, just across
from the main campus.
