Earth Week and Neumann: A Perfect Fit

Earth Week on a Franciscan campus with a commitment to caring for the environment . . . what a perfect combination. In honor of Mother Earth, the College will host several activities aimed at generating greater understanding of our natural surroundings.

On Tuesday, April 22, at 2:30 p.m., the Students for Environmental Awareness (SEA) club will induct the children at the Child Development Center into their organization as junior SEA members. Afterward, both groups will help with a campus clean-up.

On Wednesday, April 23, at 12:30 p.m., a slide show in Bachmann G60 traces wildlife-oriented adventures across all seven continents. Spiced with humor and political commentary, the show highlights endangered species and global warming.

On Thursday, April 24, a Celebration of the Earth liturgy will take place at noon in the Rose Garden. Also on Thursday, Dr. Robert McMonagle will hold a brown bag lunch discussion in the Bachmann Assisi Room from 12:45 - 1:45 p.m. to discuss his new book Caribou and Conoco:
Rethinking Environmental Politics in Alaska’s ANWR and Beyond.

Visit the Bachmann Lobby on Tuesday through Thursday from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. for the Organic Food display, the Adopt-a-Highway sign-up, and to sign the Skye Petition (the global warming petition to Congress).

The Earth Fest concludes on Monday, April 28, with a 3:00 p.m. appearance in the Rose Garden (G60 if it rains) by the Philadelphia Traveling Zoo, which will present its Born in the USA program about some of the most fascinating creatures found in America.
