Medard Gabel |
Medard Gabel, a Delaware County resident who trained with Al Gore to be a presenter of An Inconvenient Truth, will lecture on the impact of human activity on greenhouse gases and climate change on Tuesday, February 5, at 3:30 p.m. The presentation, which is free and open to the public, is scheduled for the second floor of the Abessinio Building.
Gabel is the author of six books on global energy, environmentally sound planning methods, and sustainable global economic development. He has been a consultant for the United Nations Environmental Program, the U.S. State Department, the Departments of Agriculture and Energy, and 35 Fortune 500 companies.
He also delivers a variety of multimedia environmental simulations and workshops, including the Climate Change Game. Grounded in the latest scientific findings, the game puts 30 to 150 participants in charge of the global climate with the goal of removing 200 billion tons of CO2 from the atmosphere during the next 50 years. Players learn about the options that are available to avoid climate change disaster.
Gabel is the former executive director of the World Game Institute, a nonprofit research and education organization he started with Buckminster Fuller.
