Leonhardt: One Day with the Capitals
Brett Leonhardt, a 2007 graduate and former goaltender for the men's ice hockey team, was signed to a one-day contract by the Washington Capitals and took the morning skate with the club on Tuesday, February 26. Olie Kolzig, the team's usual net minder, missed the Capitals' morning practice, and Leonhardt was allowed to strap on the pads.
A former communication and media arts major, Leonhardt is currently employed in the media office of the Capitals.
From the February 27 Washington Post: "With Kolzig skipping the morning skate, Caps media staffer Brett Leonhardt, an Ontario native and former college goaltender at Neumann College, took shots in practice. The highlight of his day -- and perhaps life -- was a nice glove save on [Alexander] Ovechkin." . . . . . more details/photos
