Celestial Harmonies: Piano Duo Performs April 11

Christopher Bradshaw and Maria José Martin
will perform classical works with heavenly themes on April 11 at 8 p.m.

 

The piano duo of Maria José Martin and Christopher Bradshaw will present an evening of “heavenly” classical music on Friday, April 11, at 8 p.m. The concert is scheduled for the Meagher Theatre.

 

Entitled Celestial Harmonies, the concert includes The Planets by Holst, Jupiter Symphony by Mozart, and other classical works with galactic themes.

 

Martin, a member of the College faculty, is a performer with international experience. She has played in Spain, Germany, Austria, Thailand, and the United States, including performances at Steinway Hall in New York City and the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia. Martin has also premiered the work of Spanish women composers in national broadcasts from Madrid. A native of Spain, she earned her master’s degree and doctorate in piano performance from the University of Cincinnati’s College Conservatory of Music.

 

A native of Monticello, New York, Bradshaw graduated with distinction from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill before attending the University of Cincinnati. He has performed at chamber music festivals in Cincinnati, Ohio, and in Morges, Switzerland. He teaches piano at the Sanford School and the Darlington Arts Center. He and Martin have been performing as a piano duo since 1992, when they met at the College Conservatory of Music.
