Selletti to Receive Malvern Retreat House Award
Barbara Selletti, SFO, the interlibrary loan and reserves librarian at Neumann, will receive a Chairman’s Award from the Malvern Retreat House at the institution’s annual Night of Awards on Wednesday, April 30.
“The award is being made to you in recognition of your contribution to the Malvern retreat apostolate through your bereavement ministry work,” says Paul C. Peterson, Chairman of the Awards Committee of the Laymen's Retreat League. “You have helped hundreds of retreatants in their difficult time of loss and we are grateful.”
“The reason I find serving at the Retreat House so fulfilling is that I get to see God working up close,” says Selletti. “He makes known His compassionate presence to those who are struggling with life's losses. It is the most incredible experience to be part of such a sacred ministry and be aware that none of my education or background was coincidental. I see my call to the bereavement ministry as in Isaiah 61, ‘He has sent me to bring glad tidings to the lowly, to heal the brokenhearted...To give them oil of gladness in place of mourning.’ I am honored to have been chosen by God to accompany my brothers and sisters while they reflect on their spiritual journey through suffering.”
Selletti holds a B.A. and M.S. from Neumann College where she has worked since 1998. She has served at the Malvern Retreat House since 1995.
