CONSTITUTION AND BY-LAWS

OF

NEUMANN COLLEGE KARATE CLUB

 

Article I

Title and Function:

            Section 1.        The name of the club will be the Neumann Karate Club

 

            Section 2.        The purpose and mission of the club is

 

The course is an introduction to the world of martial arts that gives the beginning student a basic understanding in not only the physical aspect of Karate-do, which includes basic techniques in self-defense, but also the philosophical aspect of karate-do, which includes striving for the perfection of character through karate-do principles such as sincerity, effort, etiquette, and self-control.

Article II

Membership:

Section 1.         Membership will be open to all Full-time, part-time, Continuing and Adult Professional Studies students of Neumann College.  Individuals who are not members of Neumann College may only participate in Club activities in a coaching capacity.

 

Article III                    

Officers:

Section 1.         The elective officers of this organization shall be

 

                                    President

                                    Vice President

                                    Treasurer

                                    Secretary

 

Article IV

Elections:

Section 1.         Officers shall be elected at the last meeting in December for a term of one year.

 

Section 2.         If any elective position becomes vacant the advisor and chief instructor shall choose a member to fill the vacancy for the unexpired part of the term office

 

Article V

Advisor:

Section 1.         An advisor shall be selected in accordance with the rules and regulations of Neumann College.

 

 

 

Article VI

Annual Meeting:

Section 1.         The Annual Meeting shall be in December when annual reports will be read.  Officers shall assume their duties at close of the Annual Meeting.

 

Article VII

Amendment:

Section 1.         This constitution may be amended at any regular meeting by two-thirds vote of the active membership.  It may also be amended at a special meeting called for that purpose with previous notice and a majority vote.  All proposed amendments shall be submitted in writing to the Club Advisor.  Special meetings must be approved by Club Advisor and/or Chief Instructor.

 

 

BY-LAWS

 

Article I

Membership:

Section 1.         Membership will be open to all Full-time, part-time, Continuing and Adult Professional Studies students of Neumann College.  Individuals who are not members of Neumann College may only participate in Club activities in a coaching capacity.

 

Article II

Meetings:

Section 1.         Regular meetings of the organization shall be held once a week during the semester unless otherwise ordered by the Club Advisor and/or Chief Instructor.

 

Section 2.         Special meetings may be called by the Club Advisor and/or Chief Instructor.

 

Article III

Duties of the Officers:

            Section 1.         President – Must be regularly enrolled at the College

a.       Preside over and serve as chair over all meetings of the Neumann Karate Club.

b.      Authorize, along with the treasurer, all funds for spending of the Neumann Karate Club.

c.       Represent Neumann Karate Club both publicly and privately

d.      Prepare the agenda for all meetings.

e.       Vote in the case of a tie.

f.       Plan and implement educational programs and leadership training weekends and seminars.

 

Section 2.         Vice President – Must be regularly enrolled at the College

a.       Act as a liaison between the Neumann Karate Club and the Student Government.

b.      Recruit and retain an active membership.

c.       Succeed presidential duties in the absence of the President.

d.      Coordinate all activities and events sponsored by the Neumann Karate Club.

Section 3.         Treasurer – Must be regularly enrolled at the College

a.       Keep an accurate record of the Neumann Karate Club funds

b.      Present a detailed monthly report of all Neumann Karate Club funds.

c.       Make deposits and withdraws from the account of the Neumann Karate Club

 

Section 4.         Secretary – Must be regularly enrolled at the College

a.       Record and publish minutes of all the Neumann Karate Club meetings.

b.      Take roll at meetings.

c.       Distribute all minutes to the Club Advisor and Chief Instructor.

d.      Record and type constitution revisions within two weeks of the approval of the Neumann Karate Club.

e.       Prepare a synopsis of each semester’s meetings, events and changes.

 

Article IV

Parliamentary Authority:

Section 1.         The rules contained in Robert’s Rules of Order shall govern proceedings of this club except in such cases as are covered by the Constitution, By-Laws, and standing rules adopted by this club in keeping with the rules and regulations of Neumann College.

 

Article V

Amendments to By-Laws:
