Student Affairs - Orientation FAQs
What is Orientation?
New Student Orientation provides students with the opportunity to acclimate
themselves to the college environment, and specifically to the Neumann
campus. Orientation is your first step to becoming an engaged and responsible
member of the Neumann community. Students learn about valuable resources
which will assist them to meet their educational and life goals, while
meeting other students who share their hopes and dreams. Events and activities
are designed to introduce you to a variety of experiences; all are presented
in a welcoming, Franciscan, and relaxed environment which allows each
student to become involved at their own pace.
When is Orientation?
Friday, August 24 through Sunday, August 26, 2007
How do I register for Orientation?
Because Orientation is required, we do not ask you to register.
Do I have to attend Orientation?
Yes, all incoming Neumann students are required to attend Orientation.
This includes transfer students and honors students.
Do I have to pay for Orientation?
No, there is no charge for you to attend Orientation.
Is there an Orientation program for family?
Yes, family members are always welcome. For the First Year Student Orientation,
there is a concurrent Parent Orientation held on Saturday, and parents
are invited to stay for the President's Dinner and Reception on Friday
night.
*** The Philadelphia Airport Courtyard has extended a $99 dollar rate to the families coming to the area in August. This rate also includes complimentary breakfast. For reservations, please contact David Wood, Sales Account Manager of the Philadelphia Airport Courtyard by Marriott by calling (215) 365-2200.

Will I spend the day with my parents?
Yes and No. The orientation program is actually two programs, running
concurrently: one for parents and one for students. Students will be
grouped with other incoming freshman and will spend time participating
in activities designed to make them feel comfortable on the campus,
and better understand the demands of the college curriculum. Parents
will attend sessions designed to meet their needs as parents. Students
and their parents will be reunited at lunch on Saturday, and again at
the conclusion of the parent program. Events scheduled for Sunday are
for students only, but parents can check out the parent webpage for
ideas on becoming involved at Neumann College.
What if I cannot attend Orientation?
You should make every possible effort to attend Orientation. If extraordinary
circumstances prevent your attendance, please contact the Orientation
staff immediately.
Are there accommodations for students with
special needs?
Yes. Please inform us of the accommodations you may need before your
scheduled session. Contact the Student Activities office at 610-358-5539
in advance, so that we can best accommodate you.
Who are Orientation Leaders?
The Orientation Leaders at Neumann College are a gifted group of 30
students who are specially trained to help incoming first year students
adjust to their new campus environment. They are responsible for acquainting
new students with campus services, activities, building locations, and
college life issues. Above all, these peer guides are there to be a
friendly, knowledgeable, and hospitable resource for all incoming students.
Who do I contact if I still have questions?
