In the words of Margaret Truman, " . . . the women who occupy the White House and their husbands are a varied, interesting, often enigmatic group. Amid constant comment and the relentless glare of the media and public, the first lady’s role has been interpreted colorfully and widely throughout history.”
The Cultural Arts Forum (CAF) continues its 2012-2013 season with First Ladies of the United States presented by Barbara Falini on Thursday, November 8, at 1:30p.m. Join the CAF and discover what part these women played in the formation of the United States government, influencing political decisions, and in the formation of social and cultural ideas.
A graduate of West Chester and Villanova Universities, Falini taught economics and government in the West Chester Area School District for 42 years. She now teaches in the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute sponsored by Widener University.
For 37 years, the Cultural Arts Forum has been sponsoring events to support adult women students at Neumann University through the endowed scholarship named in honor of the founder of the Forum, Margaret Mary Kearney. Proceeds of these events support this scholarship fund. Since its founding in 1970, the Forum has presented more than 240 events and seminars.
The presentation will take place in the Meagher Theatre, located in Neumann's Thomas A. Bruder, Jr. Life Center. Tickets are $7 for general admission. Admission is free for Neumann students/staff and Cultural Arts Forum Members. Please contact Neumann's Office of Cultural Programming by calling 610-558-5626 for more information.
