Summary of This Program

Bachelor’s Degree in Biology

Unlock an exciting career in science or medicine with a bachelor’s degree in biology from Neumann University.

At Neumann, we prioritize a hands-on experience for our biology students. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to learn by doing in your interactive college biology classes and internships.

Choose from three tracks to prepare for your target career: General Biology, Biology with Clinical Lab Science, and Biology with Secondary Education Certification.

You can also choose to participate in one of our pre-professional programs available to biology majors. Our special pre-med advising program helps you make sure you graduate prepared for medical school. Meanwhile, our pre-chiropractic, pre-podiatric and pre-pharmaceutical programs help you earn your advanced degree early, with preferential admissions to respected graduate schools.

Whatever track you choose for your biology degree, you’ll graduate with a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of how to apply biological sciences to your future career.

Study under renowned faculty — including patent holders and a former member of the WHO — and do real scientific work as part of your college biology major. Plus, all biology students will have the opportunity to work in off-campus settings through an internship before graduating.

What is the coursework like for the BS in biology?

Our biology degree coursework is hands-on and interactive. For example, we offer classes in which you’ll be able to isolate bacteriophages, annotate genomes and get your work published in national journals — a rare opportunity for college biology majors.

As part of your coursework, you’ll complete an internship in an off-campus setting. Clinical laboratory students fulfill this requirement through their practicum, while secondary education students fulfill it through student teaching.
