Online Programs for Adult Learners

B.S. in Public Safety Administration

Develop the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for a career aimed at maintaining the safety of the public. This degree is designed to enhance the foundation of administration and leadership for anyone interested in or currently active in the public safety sector. Our 100% online program is a brand new degree to Neumann University and offers adult learners an exciting option for their future in one of the fastest growing occupational fields.  Students complete their work from the comfort of their own home, with no set login times.

Upon successful completion of the Public Safety Administration degree program, students will be able to:


  • Identify and describe key functions and competencies to be effective in today’s public safety administration environments;


  • Describe public safety organizational dynamics through multiple perspectives; and

  • Apply body of knowledge to real-world public safety issues through experiential learning projects.


The online Public Safety Administration Core consists of 30 credits, with the following 3-credit courses required:

PAMGT 200: Foundations of Public Safety Administration

PATHE 200: Ethics and Religious Diversity in Public Safety

PAPSY 200: Group Dynamics in Public Safety

PSMGT 300: Homeland Security and Emergency Management

PAMGT 310: Public Information Officers in Public Safety

PAMGT 320: Strategic Planning in Public Safety Administration

PAPOL 300: The Politics of Public Safety Administration

PAMAT 400: Finance and Economic Issues in Public Safety

PAMGT 400: Leadership in Public Safety Administration


We aim to help you graduate more quickly by making the most of your prior credit. Students have the option of completing a self-designed elective curriculum consisting of 60 credits, making effective and efficient use of prior coursework and training.

Students transferring in fewer than 90 credits may also consider adding a concentration in either Criminal Justice Leadership (30 credits) or Fire/EMS Leadership (30 credits) to their degree program.


Online Program Specifics

With four opportunities to begin the program each year, students can begin the program when it’s most convenient for them. Courses are eight weeks in length, and students may take one or two classes at a time for greater flexibility with personal, career, and family responsibilities.


Upon receipt of unofficial transcripts, we’ll perform an evaluation of your prior coursework and credentials to provide you with as much transfer credit as possible, estimate your overall tuition and the time necessary to complete the program.


Admission Requirements:
In order to qualify for admission to the program, applicants should:


  • Possess a high school diploma or GED

  • Be at least 19 years old

  • Have a minimum of a 2.0 GPA 

  • Have at least 60 hours of transfer credit (may include credits from police, fire and/or EMS training)
