The Arts Guild was established in 1991 to enhance the high level of cultural enrichment presented to the Delaware Valley Community. All programs are held in the Fred P. Meagher Theatre, Bruder Life Center Building unless otherwise stated.
Your seat will be branded with a name plate, engraved with your chosen recognition. Your designated recognition will also be listed on a plaque in the vestibule of the Meagher Theatre’s main entrance. You can honor or remember loved ones, a club or business, a friend, or a special event — a legacy left for future generations. Your designation is limited only by your imagination!

Music of the Civil War, Stephen Foster and the American 19th Century
Presenter: Charlie Zahm
Charlie Zahm is one of the most popular singers at Celtic and maritime music events in the Eastern United States. Several years ago, he sparked interest in the great collection of music from the War Between the States. Friends in the Civil War community convinced him that with his wide array of traditional American songs, he was more than halfway there to building a strong Civil War repertoire. Mr. Zahm’s interest in history then led him to disciplined research of Civil War songs, creating this wonderful hour of music. This is a great way to learn some history of the mid-19th century

"Peaceable Kingdom" - Lenape Tribes
Presenter: Dr. Kevin Cahill
This presentation challenges the traditional narrative of Pennsylvania’s history by arguing that the “Peaceable Kingdom” originated with the Lenape tribe’s peaceful coexistence with early Dutch and Swedish settlers, rather than with William Penn. Although Penn initially upheld this harmony through adherence to his Quaker principles, the relationship deteriorated due to the influx of non-pacifist settlers and the fraudulent efforts orchestrated by Penn’s heirs to acquire Lenape land. This tribe still exists today.

Classical composers are highlighted in the opening concert of the Delaware County Symphony Chamber Series. Featured in the program are string works by Bach, Mozart, and Boccherini. Jump forward 250 years for the final piece on the concert, a new work by local composer Joe Lorini, Hymn for America, arranged for violin, cello, piano, and baritone voice.

"No Greater Love: The Story of Michael Crescenz"
Authors: John A. Siegfried & Kevin Ferris
Presenters: Kevin Ferris & Joe CrescenzListen to the heroic story of Michael Crescenz, Philadelphia’s only Medal of Honor Recipient of the Vietnam War. Michael grew up in one of Philadelphia’s booming post-war Catholic neighborhoods, distinguishing himself early on as a leader, brother, and friend. He was barely in Vietnam for two months when his unit was sent into battle against deeply entrenched enemy forces. Upon encountering the enemy’s 250 machine gun units, Private First-Class Michael J. Crescenz, concerned for his fellow comrades, picked up an M60 machine gun and charged the bunkers. He did not survive but his actions saved the lives of his fellow soldiers and allowed them to advance and ultimately prevail. For his valor and sacrifice, Michael was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor.
No Greater Love tells this story from the perspective of those who loved Michael Crescenz most, close friends, family, Michael’s commanding officer in Vietnam, retired Lieutenant General Sam Wetzel, and medic William “Doc” Stafford, the soldier closest to Michael when he was cut down by enemy fire and who believes to this day that he survived Nui Chom only because of the selfless actions of Private First-Class Crescenz.ADMISSION: General $10; FREE for Neumann students/staff and Cultural Arts Forum Members

Nicholas DiMarino
Coordinator of Cultural Programming
For the last 21 years, Nicholas DiMarino has served as the Coordinator of Cultural Programming at Neumann University. Before assuming this position, he taught social sciences and performing arts to seventh through twelfth grade students for over thirty years. He is a founding member of the Board of Directors of The Arts Guild at Neumann University. As coordinator, his position affords him the opportunity to coordinate all the performing and visual arts programs at the university. Mr. DiMarino is also the Founder and Executive Director of Center Stage Productions, a not-for-profit community theater ensemble currently part of the TAG at NU. Active in the community, he has been honored by many civic and educational groups for his devotion to teaching and promoting the performing arts. Over his very long career, he has produced and directed musical productions, dramas, and workshops for theater enthusiast of all ages.
