Security Clearance Procedures

The Pennsylvania Department of Education requires you to obtain updated security clearances at the start of your education program, prior to student teaching, and when you begin your teaching career. As a student in a Neumann University Education program with a required field experience component, you are required to apply for several background checks. Additionally, you will be required to have a TB test completed periodically. This can be done by your family doctor, at a local clinic (CVS, Walgreens), or by the nurse at Neumann

The required security clearances are:

  1. PA State Police Criminal Record Check
  2. Department of Human Services Child Abuse History Certification
  3. FBI Fingerprinting
  4. Tuberculosis Testing
  5. ACT 24 Arrest/Conviction Report and Certification Form
  6. ACT 31 Training Certificate: Recognizing & Reporting Child Abuse
  7. National Sex Offender Registry Verification

For more detailed information, please see the Security Clearances and/or Student Teaching Packets provided to you in your courses.
