Neumann University, as a Catholic University in the Franciscan Tradition, strives to follow in the footsteps of St. Francis of Assisi, and to care and reverence all creation. Stewardship is one of Neumann University’s five core values (Reverence, Integrity, Service, Excellence, and Stewardship). The University promotes sustainability to protect the environment and use resources ethically.
Neumann University aims at becoming a leader of sustainability in higher education. The University educates students, staff, and faculty through its curricular and co-curricular activities to cultivate knowledge and to be ethically responsible and thoughtful in actions to promote sustainability. The University works closely with the local community as well as the organizations servicing the University (e.g., Aramark, Sodexo) to understand and address the social, economic, and environmental impacts the campus community has on the Earth.
